The Colorado Passport Agency is available for you to visit if you need to obtain a passport in time for your upcoming travel plans. Generally, you need to come to this agency if your trip is taking place within the next three weeks. Furthermore, when you come to a US passport agency, you may need to bring proof of your international flight, cruise or other arrangements that will take you abroad.

Before you can submit your passport application at one of these agency facilities, you need to be sure that you schedule an appointment. To do so, either call the appropriate number or visit the U.S. Department of State’s website and arrange your appointment online. Once you schedule a time to speak with a passport agency representative, you are one step closer to obtaining your federal identification book or card.

Differences Between a Passport Office and Agency

Individuals need to be aware that there are different types of facilities where they can submit a US passport application. However, these government locations can be divided into two types. First, there is the passport agency. There are only 27 of these facilities, and applicants need to have extenuating circumstances, such as international emergencies, that permit them to apply here.

Alternatively, there is the passport office. These locations are more abundant, and most cities and towns have their own offices that applicants can visit. Usually, these offices are located in post offices, libraries or other official government structures. Another difference between the office and the agency is that not every US passport office requires applicants to schedule appointments before they apply there. The specific location determines whether they require this.

Whether you apply at the Colorado Passport Agency or another similar facility throughout the country, there are certain documents you need to bring with you. • Form DS-11 (Passport application).
  • A government-issued photo identification card.
  • Proof that you are a U.S. citizen.
  • A passport-compliant photo.
  • Payment for your passport services.
